10k...medal reward |
I mentioned in a previous post my new pastime..I took up running...this year I have been working towards a new distance...the 10k. These are some photos of the second 10k race I entered.
I wanted to run it again to prove to myself that I can master the 10k distance (the first time can always be a fluke! or a good day!). This was an evening race, which worked well for me, the weather was unusually cool which was a helpful break from the hot humid temperatures we are experiencing. Also, it gave me the chance to get myself together and be in the 'zone' to really enjoy the race. I say race lightly of course, for me, I run my own race, with the goal of completing and running the whole way, and...feeling strong and enjoying the experience. I can get caught up with time and pace etc, but I remind myself why I took up running in the first place, for fun and fitness and to have a new experience. I often think of how running is a privilege. My body is relatively healthy, it works, and it can take me 10k! There are many people struggling with illness, health and I often think of how blessed and fortunate I am to be able to move my body and use it in health and wellness.
Running makes me stay in the moment - it is really just one foot in front of the other, and reminds me to try to enjoy the now - it ais ll we have - you can not wish the 10k away or make it anything other than what it is. A good lesson for me, indicative of life in many ways. I have another 10k race in the next few weeks, another chance to enjoy the experience and feel a sense of accomplishment. After this...half marathon anyone?
Wine country
Nature's Beauty
Al fresco dining...
Here are some recent pictures from a trip to local wine country my husband and I took....so beautiful...we took a lovely tour of the wineries, learned how to pair wine with cheese (yum to cheese!) and of course, drank some great wine. I also took my paints and got in a quick but mind quieting time to paint some of the gorgeous scenery. Ahhhh......summer is good.
